Mike was Brown, But you forgot you are too.

Black women no longer grimace at men only seeking them for sex, instead, they are proud.
They plaster naked bodies on tumblr, and idolize women whose only talents are being able to suck dick for E news.
Their relationship goals are of couples who can afford designer clothes, yet have no desire to learn about women who boycotted just so they could be taken seriously in the workplace.
We are a generation of a women who’d rather show off their bodies for the intention of men, instead of show off their minds for the intention of change.
The generation x has turned into the generation Y.
Y do you not love your skin?
Y do you not love yourself?
Y do you not know of love?
Instead our men who are descendants of those who fought for their women not to be raped
are now raping women on camera and calling it “Hip-hop”
I’m sorry but I don’t think that’s how it started,
I’m sorry but I don’t think that’s how it should end,
I’m sorry but I don’t think that our men in the hood expressing themselves just to be understood by the upperclass knew that eventually their words would be misused
That their beats would be turned into the beating of all black women and all black men just for a head nod.
Oh you nodding your head
so keep nodding it while your homeboy is dead
yet, you selling your souls for the labels made from those who killed him?
so pour that champagne on your carpet to let us know that’s how you feel him.
while we all pour our blood to the ground
because apparently murder isn’t murder if it has a nice sound.
I guess because Yeezy wasn’t in the background, that’s why you all pretend to care about Mike Brown.
This country has been killing us for years and we’ve been handing them the weapons,
I guess it wasn’t until you realized that it could have been you, that you decided to care,
The same people making signs are signing contracts to labels that make you degrade your own kind.
They no longer have to disrespect us because they have trained us to disrespect ourselves.
Have you not learned about the Miseducation of the Negro,
but you still got Miracle Watts as your lock screen
but Kathleen Cleaver is a name you’ve never heard of
and I just want to pray for all our souls because I don’t think anyone realizes how forsaken we truly are.
Black lives don’t matter until it becomes a twitter trend
and you put your avi in all black
but you’re the same man who isn’t attracted to a woman because she’s too black
You’re crying for a boy who was killed because his skin was the color written as his last time,
but you’re bleaching your skin just to get instagram likes
and you don’t like black men because they aren’t rich enough
Baby girl, whether or not you’re willing to sell your body and soul for a couple dolla dolla bills is between you and God.
I’m only here to ask that you stop pretending
Brother, you are excommunicated from this family and you have been since you said that her natural hair was “too nappy”
and your hatred for the women of your race is nobody’s business but you and your mothers
but please stop calling Mike Brown your Brother.
You do not love him
and you definitely do not love us
Stop retweeting things that you don’t know about calling it substance
Stop putting your avi all black when you are ashamed of your own blackness
And stop trying to find justice for someone else until you can find justice for yourselves.
